From Melaka, we got the bus to Mersing so we could get the ferry over to Tioman Island. We knew we would have missed the last ferry by the time we arrived and were only going to overnight here, but ended up staying 3 days.

The Embassy is a 27 room hotel in Mersing town centre. The rooms were basic but clean with a very comfortable bed and pillows. Rooms without aircon would be cheaper. The TV only picked up 2 local channels and ESPN, which meant Peter had all the football and motorbike racing he could ask for. We had a room at the back, the front ones may be a little noisy.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating, if a little forgetful when it came to emptying the litter bin and leaving clean towels (they took the dirty ones, just didn't leave clean ones).

There is a canteen on the ground floor, but a local told us the food isn't the best (and thankfully told us where to go for the best) but is reasonably priced for a drink.
